To whom it may concern,

I am just a face among many, a name you have never known

I am a child that’s been abused, kindness hasn’t been shown

You all live your lives and hope to grow old

I’m beat with a punch then loved with an unnatural touch

I see your family grilling in the yard

With pride you pat your children on the back

While mine is scarred

I know you would help if you could truly see, that the woman that bore me lets men explore me

As I beg and I plea

If I were your child wouldn’t you love and adore me for the whole world to see?

I am always hungry, I need to eat

And so very tired, but afraid to sleep

Can you imagine what it is like for a child to not want to play?

Can you even fathom what kind of pain it takes to make them that way?

Pick a child like me and if you dare to look in their eye

That dull light that that used to be a blazing spark don’t make you want to cry

I am black, brown, yellow, and red

I am every child left broken and scared

Deep down I think you are more afraid than I am

Because before you can help you have to admit to a sin

You said you didn’t see and you know you lied

Because you looked away some of us have died

Help came too late for me to escape

I was murdered after I was raped

But I know you did your best, No more beatings or rapes

I am finally at rest

Learn from my story and know there is a child you could save

Please before it’s too late

Before they are speaking from their graves
